It is contemporary, but with flash-backs into the ancient past. It emphasizes past, present and future as being the ephemeral qualities of our own perceptions.
The Flaming Serpent is well-written. It is poetic, yet keeps you with the story in a clear and information manner, despite it’s spiraling through various times and dimensions of reality.
